Denver County Court

Options Available

After someone receives a ticket, a few options exist depending on the laws they were charged with violating:

    1. If there is a fine listed on the ticket, the defendant can pay the ticket online, by mail, or in person at the address listed on the ticket.  The case will close and the scheduled court appearance will be cancelled.  Paying the ticket without coming to court will result in reduced points as listed on the ticket.   Defendants who choose to mail in their payment must sign the ticket stating they are  pleading guilty and mail it in with their payment.
    2. The defendant can choose not to pay their ticket and come to court on the date and time listed on the ticket.  If the defendant pleads guilty or is found guilty, additional court costs will be imposed.  Additional sentence requirements could be imposed to include useful public service and defensive driving classes.
    3. If there is no fine amount on the ticket, the defendant must appear in court on the date and time listed on the ticket.  If the defendant pleads or is found guilty, court costs will be imposed.  Additional sentence requirements could be imposed to include public service and defensive driving classes.  If the case is dismissed, or the defendant is found not guilty, no court costs will be imposed and the matter will be concluded.
