Wellness Court’s mission is to provide an efficient, judicially supervised, accountable, and systemic process to address mental health, substance use, participant success, and recovery. Wellness Court is a voluntary, court-supervised program for individuals arrested and charged with municipal level offenses in Denver County, and who have a mental health or co-occurring mental health and substance use diagnosis. A treatment plan will be developed to address individual needs and specify what will be required of the individual participant. The minimum length of program is nine months and includes regular appearances in front of the magistrate to monitor treatment progress and compliance.
Referrals to Wellness Court come from a variety of sources including the Restorative Options Collaboration (ROC) list, judges, public defenders, prosecutors, private attorneys, police, jail personnel, mental health providers, and family members.
