Judicial Nomination

The Denver County Court Judicial Nomination Commission is accepting applications from qualified attorneys to fill one vacancy for the Denver County Court Bench. The Commission will meet in November 2021 to interview and select nominees for appointment by Mayor Michael Hancock.

A new ordinance passed by Denver City Council, effective November 1st, created a 19th Judicial Officer for Denver County Court.

Applicants for the position must be qualified electors of the City and County of Denver at the time of application, be licensed as an attorney at law in the State of Colorado and have a minimum of five years’ experience as a licensed practicing attorney. Each appointment will be for a provisional term of two years with retention for a regular four-year term determined at the first November General Election after the provisional term.

The completed application must be emailed to no later than Thursday, November 4th, 2021 by 5:00 p.m.

Bannock Street Closed

Monday, April 20th, 2020

Effective Tuesday, April 21, 2020, Bannock Street will be permanently closed to thru traffic between 14th and Colfax Avenues, in front of the City and County Building.  All meters will be removed, and accessible parking spaces will be relocated to the South side of the City and County Building on 14th Avenue.

Rescheduled Cases

Monday, April 6th, 2020

Due to the Mayor’s Stay at Home Order extension, all Denver County Court cases including arraignments, bond hearings and cases set for trial in April and May are in the process of being rescheduled. This may take a few days to complete. Check  to find your new court date.

The Denver County Court will be closed Monday, March 30, 2020 in observance of the Cesar Chavez holiday.
