eFile – Electronic Filing System
The Denver County Court eFiling System (DCC eFile) is an electronic document filing platform used by attorneys that are required to perform mandatory electronic filings in civil cases and limited non-mandatory filings for other cases; as well as serving as an overall case records system. The system supports the following document and case filings:
New Case Filings (Civil)
- Forcible Entry and Detainer (FED) – Residential, Mobile Home, and Commercial
- Foreign Judgment
- Money Disputes (Not exceeding $25,000)
- Petition for Civil Enforcement
- Replevins
- Restrictive Housing
- Nuisance Abatement
Filing for Existing Cases
- Civil (All above)
- State Criminal (Limited)
- Denver Municipal (Limited)
- Denver Traffic (Limited)
Organization Types, Filing & Access
DCC eFile supports three unique organization types for registration. Each organization must be approved by Denver County Court prior to accessing the eFile system. Organizations have differentiating features and access in the DCC eFile system.
Criminal Justice
Pursuant 27-72-302(3)C.R.S, designation of a criminal justice agency is assessed by the Denver County Court.
- Criminal Justice organizations have access to all case types including: State Criminal, Denver Municipal, Traffic and Civil
- Criminal Justice organizations are also permitted access to applicable gallery case documents
- Criminal Justice organizations do not currently have access to sealed cases in DCC eFile, however, such access is authorized by law and is made available to them outside of the DCC eFile system
Government (Fee Exempt)
Agencies are determined by the manner in which the organization was created under federal, state, or local laws and eligibility is assessed by the Denver County Court.
- Government organizations have access to all case types including: State Criminal, Denver Municipal, Traffic and Civil
- Gallery access is unavailable for government organizations
- Government organizations are not authorized for access to sealed cases
Law Firms
Law firms organization types require an authorized attorney who is responsible for the organization as a whole and billing functions.
- Law firms have access to their own cases
- Law firms must file an entry of appearance (EOA) for defendant representation. Once EOA is approved by DCC full access to the case is activated.
- In certain types of cases, law firms can follow the progress of other civil cases to which they are not a party.
- Access to civil cases can be purchased, for a finite period of time, if not representing a party to the case
Private
Private organizations’ access functions the exact same as a “Law Firm” type organization, but may not be an actual law firm.
- Private organizations have the same requirement for an authorized attorney as that of “Law Firm” organizations.
- Private organizations may represent a business or company for plaintiffs or defendants.
