Probation Division

The Denver County Court Probation Division is committed to public safety; victim and community reparation, through client accountability; skill and competency development; and services to the communities of Colorado. The Probation Division supervises an average daily population of 2,400 individuals sentenced by the Court to community supervision. This division has specialized units that supervise clients with varying needs and strives to achieve positive change in individuals under supervision while also ensuring safety of the community. Using evidence-based practices and innovative technology, this office focuses on the efficient use of limited resources to maintain public safety, client habilitation/re-habilitation with the goal of client reintegration and reduced recidivism. This office administers risk/need assessments, pre-sentence investigation reports, sentencing recommendations, conducts home visits, and creates individualized case plans and referrals for services.

Probation Core Values

The Denver County Court Probation Division strives to provide reintegration services to individuals who have been sentenced. DCC Probation conducts client supervision, prioritizing the following integral core values:

  • Treat clients in a respectful and professional manner
  • Clients may ask questions about their case and receive accurate and clear answers
  • Clients should be informed about any changes to the status of their case
  • Clients’ information should be kept confidential and only shared with appropriate court, or law enforcement personnel
  • Clients should be seen in a timely manner and be provided privacy during appointments

Client Responsibilities

As a client of the Denver County Court Probation Division you must understand and adopt the following responsabilities:

  • You are expected to treat staff in a courteous manner
  • You are expected to truthfully answer all questions and provide all information required to process and update your case
  • You are expected to be on time for all your scheduled appointments and to notify the office if you are going to be late or unable to attend as scheduled
  • You are expected to pay court fines, costs and fees for services in a timely manner

Victim Advocacy

The Constitution of the State of Colorado and the laws of the state guarantee certain rights to victims of crimes. Denver County Court Probation recognizes that victims have the right to be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect throughout the criminal justice process. Victims of crimes also have the right to be informed, present, and heard at critical stages of a probationer’s sentence.
