Honorable Beth Faragher

 

Judge Faragher was appointed to the Denver County Court bench as a Judge in June of 2014.  Judge Faragher obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and her undergraduate degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.  Judge Faragher was the lead plaintiff in the U.S. Supreme Court case, Faragher v. City of Boca Raton, 524 U.S. 775 (1998), which defined when employers are liable for the harassment of their supervisory employees.  She has spoken about her case across the country and been published in the Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal (Spring 2005).

Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Faragher held positions as both a part-time and full-time Magistrate in the Denver County Court where she covered various dockets including Protection Orders, Small Claims, Criminal Advisements, Traffic, Juvenile, and General Sessions (municipal). In Denver County Court, Judge Faragher served on the Self-Represented Litigant Coordinator Committee (2013-2014), the Vet Stand Down Committee (2011-present), the Project Homeless Connect Committee (2012-present), the Rap-It-Up Day Committee (2009-2010), and the Democratic National Convention Committee (2008).  Previously, Judge Faragher served as a Pro Tem Judge for the City of Westminster, was in private practice specializing in criminal defense, employment law, and mental health court appointments.  Judge Faragher also has prior experience as a Municipal Public Defender in Denver.

Judge Faragher graduated from the Colorado Bar Association’s Leadership Training (COBALT) Program in 2011 and has remained involved with COBALT in various capacities since that time.  As a member of the Denver Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee since 2007, Judge Faragher works as a liaison between the committee and Denver County Court.  She is a DBA Representative to the CBA Board of Governors,  a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation, and a member of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association and its Circle of Minerva.  Outside of the legal community, Judge Faragher volunteers her time with many local philanthropic organizations.

Judge Faragher enjoys running, hiking, skiing, biking, and ultimate Frisbee.
