Honorable John Marcucci (retired)

Judge Marcucci was appointed to the bench in February of 1990, and has served as the Presiding Judge since January of 2011. Judge Marcucci received his undergraduate degree from Regis College in Denver BA, Cum Laude in 1975, and his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1978.

Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Marcucci was a partner in a law firm specializing in criminal, bankruptcy and civil litigation.

Judge Marcucci received the Judicial Excellence Award from the Denver Bar Association in 2001. He was also awarded the Denver Sheriff Department Exemplary Service Award on June 22, 2012, the Empowerment Program Award for dedication and service to its participants in 2007, presided over the initiation of the National Bureau of Justice Assistance Co-Operative Creation of the Denver County Court Chrysalis Project in July 2004 and remained as overseer until January 2008, served on Mayor Hickenlooper’s Alternatives to Sentencing Committee in 2005 as a prelude to the Denver Crime Prevention and Control Commission (CPCC), currently sits on the State’s Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice Bond Subcommittee, the State’s Chief Judges Council, the State’s Judicial Advisory Council Chaired by Justice Hobbs, is a member of The Denver Operations Committee, the Denver CPCC, the CPCC Justice Coordinating Sub-committee, as well as several other Denver County Court and City committees. During his career as a Judge, Judge Marcucci found time to coach Junior and High School Women’s Basketball for a total of 16 years.
